A lot of people saying that Filipino foods are one of the best in the world. And I will prove to you that indeed that our very own cuisine are world-class.
Last week i was invited by a friend to dine to the newest restaurant in Timog Avenue, Quezon City. Ombu Modern Filipino restaurant interior design has a natural, calm feel and it feels so homey to dining in.
The staff is very attentive imagine when we first arrive they greeted us with smiling faces, then directed us to our seats, give us the menu then after we ordered the staff explain to us that our order will be serve with 10 to 15 minutes then they gave us water without asking for it which for me that’s really awesome because its rarely to see restaurant staff do that. They serve modern Filipino cuisine like Bagnet Dinuguan, Herb Mahi-Mahi and Spicy Garlic Crablet.
That night we ordered they’re chef food recommendations like Salted Egg Spaghettini, Bagnet Dinuguan, Herb Crusted Mahi-Mahi, Eggplant Omelette, Dilis Rice and Beignet with Tsokolate-Eh Dip.
Herb Crusted Mahi-Mahi - Pan fried Mahi-Mahi fillet in cream sauce topped with herb flavored crust. This dish gives you the crunch and the flavor that your looking for a dish like this. This dish melt in your mouth.
Eggplant Omelette - Eggplant stuffed with onion, potatoes & bell peppers mixed with egg. This dish can be my comfort food i can eat 2 to 3 services in a row and this dish is so perfect to their dilis rice.
Dilis Rice – This fried rice is one of the best fried rice i eating in my life. Its full of flavor you can taste the saltiness of the dilis and the sweet taste come from the sauteed garlic. I almost ate it all and i forgot that I’m with friend dining in LOL.
Bagnet Dinuguan - Deep-fried pork belly in tangy, pork blood stew. This dish is for me is the blockbuster dish specially this is my first time to eat Bagnet Dinuguan and believe me this dish will rock your world. The sauce of stew is perfectly cooked and the bagnet retain the crunch even if its been on the sauce.
I thought I’m already full but when i saw salted egg spaghettini i immediately called the restaurant staff to order it.
Salted Egg Spaghettini - Tossed in salted egg yolks and sprinkled with tomatoes, cucumber and salted egg whites. The taste is fantastic and the freshness of the tomato and cucumber compliments the saltiness of the salted egg.
Beignet w/ Tsokolate Eh Drip - Pastry made from deep-fried choux paste with a rich and thick chocolate sauce. Indeed eating this desert is the best way to end a sumptuous dinner.
The Verdict: I really enjoyed dining in Ombu Modern Filipino Restaurant with their friendly and accommodating staff and mouthwatering food. For sure i will be eating again to this restaurant this time i will be bringing my parents with me and will be recommending it to friends and people who wants to taste a modern touch to Filipino cuisine.
